Accountant - month-end close (Hartford, CT)

Clearpath Sparrow Freight is a Hartford logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with loads and lanes. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
