Accountant - month-end close (Hartford, CT)

Highbridge Drift Freight is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for dock schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 11 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with dock schedules. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Hartford, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
