Accountant - month-end close (Hartford, CT)

Greenridge Birch Freight Group is a Hartford logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Track costs around dock schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with loads and lanes. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
