Accountant - month-end close (Fresno, CA)

Greenridge River Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for catastrophe response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Fresno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
