Accountant - month-end close (El Paso, TX)

Highbridge Orchard Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around El Paso, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
