Accountant - month-end close (Detroit, MI)

Ironwood Summit Financial Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for payment disputes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 147 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around vendor spend against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with payment disputes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
