Accountant - month-end close (Detroit, MI)

Greenridge Ashton Environmental Services is an environmental-services company in Detroit with routes, transfer stations and recycling, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 345 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around service complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to weigh tickets, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with weigh tickets.
