Accountant - month-end close (Detroit, MI)

Ironwood Harbor Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Detroit. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Seasons are busy and the rest of the year is for planning. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to packing house output, and clear open items. • Track costs around harvest schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
