Accountant - month-end close (Detroit, MI)

Summit Meadow Property Management manages apartment communities around Detroit. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Residents are neighbours, not numbers. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to lease renewals, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around maintenance requests against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with lease renewals. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
