Accountant - month-end close (Des Moines, IA)

We are growing our team at Amberfield Drift Hospitality Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. We work weekends and holidays and we make it fun. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to housekeeping schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with housekeeping schedules. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
