Accountant - month-end close (Des Moines, IA)

Nova Harbor Telecom builds and runs fibre and wireless networks in the Des Moines area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Technicians and office staff share information daily. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to network equipment, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around customer tickets against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with network equipment. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
