Accountant - month-end close (Des Moines, IA)

Foxglove Keystone Environmental Services collects and processes waste and recycling around Des Moines, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with recycling loads. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
