Accountant - month-end close (Des Moines, IA)

Northwind Clear Care Services supports families and individuals in Des Moines with personal care and coordination. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to care plans, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with care plans. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
