Accountant - month-end close (Dallas, TX)

Fernwood Timber Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Dallas, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with pipe repairs. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Dallas. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
