Accountant - month-end close (Columbus, OH)

Westbrook Juniper Civic Services Group supports public agencies in Columbus with budgeting, records and programmes, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Benefits and stability attract long tenure. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around procurement against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to constituent requests, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Columbus. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
