Accountant - month-end close (Columbus, OH)

We are growing our team at Foxglove Meridian Farms and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to seasonal crews, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around harvest schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
