Accountant - month-end close (Columbus, OH)

Nova Umber Civic Services supports public agencies in Columbus with budgeting, records and programmes. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around budget submissions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to constituent requests, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with constituent requests. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
