Accountant - month-end close (Colorado Springs, CO)

Ironwood Sable Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Colorado Springs. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 792 people based in Colorado Springs. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with meter reading. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Colorado Springs, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
