Accountant - month-end close (Colorado Springs, CO)

Amberfield Mill Energy Group delivers power and gas plans across the Colorado Springs region, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around hardship programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with usage data. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Colorado Springs, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
