Accountant - month-end close (Cincinnati, OH)

Foxglove Cobalt Housing is a nonprofit housing provider in Cincinnati. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Housing is our mission and residents are our neighbours. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent assistance, and clear open items. • Track costs around maintenance stores against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with rent assistance. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Cincinnati. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
