Accountant - month-end close (Charleston, SC)

Rivermark Ridge Property Management Group looks after rental homes across the Charleston area, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 496 people based in Charleston. What you will do • Track costs around maintenance requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent collection, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with rent collection. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Charleston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
