Accountant - month-end close (Charleston, SC)

Stonegate Clear Freight is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for dock schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Charleston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
