Accountant - month-end close (Buffalo, NY)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Cobalt Early Learning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with family communication. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Buffalo. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
