Accountant - month-end close (Buffalo, NY)

Northwind Orchard Arts Center is an arts centre in Buffalo with a full calendar of events. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Evenings and weekends are part of the job. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. • Track costs around event logistics against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with school partnerships. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
