Accountant - month-end close (Buffalo, NY)

Ironwood Cross Arts Center is an arts centre in Buffalo with a full calendar of events, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 168 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ticketing, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with ticketing. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Buffalo, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
