Accountant - month-end close (Boston, MA)

Amberfield Quarry Environmental Services Group serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Boston, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to recycling loads, and clear open items. • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Boston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
