Accountant - month-end close (Birmingham, AL)

Silverline Haven Financial provides savings, lending and payment services from Birmingham, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around loan applications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to vendor spend, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with vendor spend. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
