Accountant - month-end close (Birmingham, AL)

Highbridge Health is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for unit turnovers, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Track costs around resident events against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with unit turnovers. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
