Accountant - month-end close (Birmingham, AL)

Harborlight Loom Medical is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for clinical evaluations, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 52 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to clinical evaluations, and clear open items. • Track costs around training materials against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
