Accountant - month-end close (Birmingham, AL)

We are growing our team at Ironwood Vale Staffing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 176 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to onboarding, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around retention against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with onboarding.
