Accountant - month-end close (Birmingham, AL)

Bluepeak Cross Hospitality is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for guest bookings, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 13 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around food costs against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with guest bookings. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
