Accountant - month-end close (Baltimore, MD)

Ironwood Ivory Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Baltimore region, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 39 people based in Baltimore. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Baltimore. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
