Accountant - month-end close (Atlanta, GA)

Northwind Sable Construction is a Atlanta contractor with project managers, trades and support staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 923 people based in Atlanta. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around project schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with change orders. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Atlanta, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
