Accountant - month-end close (Anchorage, AK)

Rivermark Kestrel Learning Group is an education provider in Anchorage serving students and families. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We follow the school calendar and we like people who like learning. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to attendance records, and clear open items. • Track costs around student accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Anchorage. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
