Accountant - month-end close (Anchorage, AK)

We are growing our team at Bright Quarry Environmental Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 533 people based in Anchorage. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to landfill records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with landfill records. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
