Accountant - month-end close (Albuquerque, NM)

Summit River Early Learning runs childcare centres in Albuquerque caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Track costs around enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Albuquerque. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
