Accountant - month-end close (Albuquerque, NM)

Cedar North Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Albuquerque. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with premium billing. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Albuquerque. • We reply to every applicant.
