Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Wichita, KS)

Lumen Stone Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Wichita design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Wichita. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
