Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Highbridge Union Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Virginia Beach region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 513 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with billing disputes. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
