Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Bluepeak Fern Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for service complaints, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 227 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with service complaints.
