Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Clearpath Mill Arts Center is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for volunteer programmes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 25 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Track costs around exhibitions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer programmes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
