Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Westbrook Glen Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Virginia Beach region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with hardship programmes. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
