Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Ironwood Housing is a nonprofit housing provider in Virginia Beach, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Collaboration with local agencies is constant. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around maintenance stores against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to lease compliance, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with lease compliance. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
