Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Tampa, FL)

Stonegate Cedar Environmental Services collects and processes waste and recycling around Tampa. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around recycling loads against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Tampa, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
