Accountant - grant and fund accounting (St. Louis, MO)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Hollow Telecom and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 780 people based in St. Louis. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with outage reports. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in St. Louis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
