Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Spokane, WA)

Nova North Early Learning Group is an early-learning provider in Spokane, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to classroom supplies, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with classroom supplies. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
