Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Northwind Nest Pharma develops and makes medicines in San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 24 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to batch records, and clear open items. • Track costs around cleanroom operations against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Jose. • We reply to every applicant.
