Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Bright Iron Markets is a San Jose retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. • Track costs around supplier deliveries against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with store inventory. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Jose. • We reply to every applicant.
