Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Stonegate Pharma supports drug development and manufacturing around San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. People move between science and operations roles. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to clinical studies, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with clinical studies. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
