Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Foxglove West Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Seasons are busy and the rest of the year is for planning. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with field records. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
